Clare Blackwell is a Limerick born and Dublin based printmaker, art educator and painter. She holds degrees in both Visual Communication and Art Education from LSAD. She has exhibited widely in group exhibitions, with her first solo show in Limerick City in December 2023. She has completed artist residencies at València Print Workshop and Scuola Grafica Venice in 2024-25 and has been awarded on a number of occasions by The Arts Council of Ireland.
Clare works figuratively and is influenced by the environment and wider environmental themes including architectural forms. She is focused on drawing as a core aspect of her practice, with the interaction of lines a source of constant interest. Blending this with exploring colour theory and layering in printmaking and painting, Clare works with art and design historical influences to ground her work as she aims to capture memory and mood in her vibrant print-based works.
